IIM Shillong IPM: What the Five-Year Programme Includes

IIM Shillong's IPM is a five-year integrated management programme designed for students entering after Class XII. The first four years are built around the undergraduate management stage, while the fifth year is the MBA stage. The programme offers structured exit pathways, allowing students to earn a qualification earlier if they meet the academic requirements.

IIM Shillong IPM Fees: Current Published Structure

IIM Shillong's IPM finance page currently publishes tuition and non-academic expenses for the first three years, while Years IV and V are linked to the prevailing PGP fee for the respective years. Therefore, a single five-year rupee total cannot be responsibly presented as a fixed 2026-31 amount.

IIM Shillong IPM Structure & Exit Options

The IPM is built in two connected phases. Years 1-3 lead to the BBA stage, the fourth year continues the undergraduate management pathway with BBA (Honours), and the fifth year is the MBA stage.

Exit / completion pointQualificationWhat it means
End of Year 1Certificate in ManagementEarly exit option subject to academic requirements.
End of Year 2Diploma in ManagementSecond structured exit point.
End of Year 3BBAUndergraduate degree route.
End of Year 4BBA (Honours)Honours undergraduate pathway.
End of Year 5MBACompletion of integrated management programme.
Why exit options matter:

The flexibility is useful if your academic or career plans change. However, students choosing IPM primarily for the MBA should evaluate the full five-year financial and time commitment rather than assuming they will necessarily complete all five years.

Campus, Hostel & Student Life

IIM Shillong's IPM is fully residential, and students are required to stay in institute hostels. The institute positions residential life as an integral part of the learning experience.

The Shillong setting provides a campus environment distinct from metro-city business schools. Students should consider the climate, distance from home, connectivity and the fact that much of the programme's academic and social life happens within the residential ecosystem.

Good fit if you want

  • An integrated management route after Class XII.
  • An IIM campus environment from the undergraduate stage.
  • Residential peer learning and structured exit options.

Think carefully if

  • You are unsure about pursuing management after Class XII.
  • You strongly prefer a metro-city undergraduate ecosystem.
  • You want maximum flexibility to switch disciplines after school.
