IIM Bangalore PGPEM: What the Programme Is Designed For

The Post Graduate Programme in Enterprise Management (PGPEM) is IIM Bangalore's two-year weekend MBA for working professionals. The programme is designed for mid-level and senior executives who want to build broader management capability without leaving their jobs. IIMB says the programme complements participants' existing functional knowledge and experience with contemporary management knowledge.

IIM Bangalore PGPEM CAT, GMAT, GRE & IIMB Test

PGPEM is unusually flexible in its accepted test routes: candidates can apply through CAT, GMAT, GRE or the IIMB Test. This gives experienced professionals more than one way to demonstrate readiness for the programme.

Test2027-29 ruleImportant detail
CATAcceptedApplicants must indicate PGPEM in the CAT 2026 application. CAT 2026 scores are used for the PGPEM Round-2 assessment.
GMATAcceptedOfficial score report / test-taker copy is required as applicable. IIMB publishes specific validity windows for each application round.

About the cutoff: IIMB's current PGPEM admission page does not publish a single CAT/GMAT/GRE percentile cutoff that guarantees an interview or offer. The final decision is based on a composite score after the interview stage. Students should therefore avoid treating any unofficial "safe score" as an official cutoff.

IIM Bangalore PGPEM Fees 2027: Latest Published Fee

IIM Bangalore PGPEM Curriculum & Weekend Learning Format

PGPEM uses a four-term academic structure in each academic year. PGPEM-specific courses are scheduled on Fridays and Saturdays. In the second year, students with flexible work schedules may also take electives offered across other IIMB postgraduate programmes.

Core management areas

TermCore courses
Term 1Managerial Economics; Designing Organizations; Decision Sciences
Term 2Financial Reporting & Analysis; Marketing Management; Managing People & Performance in Organizations
Term 3Microeconomics; Business Law; Corporate Finance
Term 4Operations Management; Competition and Strategy; Cost Management; Corporate Governance & Ethics

Projects and application-based learning

Each student is expected to complete the required 750 contact hours within a maximum of five academic years. The curriculum includes live projects, and the Action Learning Project allows students to take a turnkey problem from their organisation, analyse it and make recommendations. This is particularly relevant for professionals seeking immediate workplace application.

Elective flexibility

The elective basket spans decision sciences, finance, marketing, information systems, operations, strategy, entrepreneurship, organisational behaviour and other management areas. IIMB states that the list is tentative and can change by year based on student interest.

IIM Bangalore PGPEM Career Outcomes: What Official Evidence Shows

PGPEM is designed around career progression for working professionals rather than conventional campus placement for fresh graduates. IIMB's programme description explicitly positions the programme for mid-level and senior executives, while official ranking releases provide outcome indicators.

#72Global position in Financial Times Executive MBA Ranking 2025
#2India position in FT Executive MBA Ranking 2025
82%Salary percentage increase reported for PGPEM alumni in IIMB's FT EMBA 2025 release

Why there is no conventional placement table here

IIMB's current official Career Development Services placement materials list dedicated placement reports for PGP, PGPBA and EPGP, but do not provide a comparable PGPEM-specific salary table. It would therefore be misleading to copy EPGP or PGP/PGPBA salary data onto this page.

What the published career evidence suggests

The FT EMBA 2025 release says PGPEM achieved a Career Outcomes score of 87.1 out of 100, measuring graduates promoted and mean salary increase. The same release reported an 82% salary percentage increase for PGPEM alumni, up from 68% in the previous ranking release. These are career-progression indicators, not campus placement salary figures.

Decision implication:

PGPEM should be evaluated on promotion potential, role expansion, leadership capability, peer network and the ability to apply learning while remaining employed—not on a conventional highest-package metric.

Who Should Apply for IIM Bangalore PGPEM?

Strong fit if you

  • Have at least six years of qualifying full-time experience after graduation.
  • Want to continue working while pursuing an IIMB MBA.
  • Want broader management capability beyond your current functional specialisation.
  • Can apply projects, strategy and management frameworks directly to workplace problems.

Think carefully if you

  • Are a fresher or have less than six years of qualifying experience.
  • Need a full-time residential MBA with a summer internship and campus placement focus.
  • Are primarily comparing programmes by average or highest salary packages.
  • Cannot commit to the Friday/Saturday academic schedule and associated workload.
Student decision rule: PGPEM is most relevant when your objective is career progression without career interruption. If you want to leave work and make a major pre-experience or early-career transition, IIMB's PGP or EPGP may be a more relevant comparison depending on your experience level.
