TAPMI MBA Core: What the Programme Is Actually Designed For
TAPMI's MBA Core is its flagship general-management programme. The 2026-28 prospectus describes it as a two-year programme across six trimesters, with Year 1 building foundations in strategy, marketing, operations, HR, accounting, finance, economics, information systems and analytics, followed by more specialised and experiential learning.
The programme is aimed at students who want broad management capability rather than a narrow first-job specialisation. TAPMI also uses cross-functional experiential courses including BrandScan, SEVA, SMIC, SAMNIDHY, Integrative Thinking Simulation and OMEGA.
Choose the Core MBA if you want flexibility across consulting, BFSI, IT/analytics, marketing, operations or general management and do not want to lock yourself into HR or finance at the time of admission.
TAPMI MBA Core Admission Dates 2027-29: Tentative Admission Schedule
TAPMI has not yet published the official 2027-29 admission calendar. The timeline below is a planning estimate based on TAPMI's previous MBA admission cycles. TAPMI's official 2026-28 cycle opened applications in October 2025, closed in January 2026, conducted GD/WAT/PI in February-March, announced the first selection list in April and began the MBA academic year in June/July. These dates are therefore tentative and not confirmed dates for 2027-29.
| 2027-29 admission stage | Tentative timeline | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Application opening | October-November 2026 | Expected from previous-cycle pattern |
| Application deadline | January 2027 | Expected from previous-cycle pattern |
| Shortlist announcement | January-February 2027 | Expected |
| GD/WAT/PI | February-March 2027 | Expected from previous-cycle pattern |
| First selection list | April 2027 | Expected from previous-cycle pattern |

Start preparing for the 2027-29 cycle before the application window opens. Keep your CAT/XAT/GMAT preparation, academic documents, achievements and programme-specific application information ready. Because TAPMI can change dates and selection components each year, use the official TAPMI admissions page as the final source of truth once the 2027-29 notification is released.
TAPMI MBA Admission 2026-28: Eligibility, Cutoff & Selection
TAPMI requires at least 60% in graduation from a recognised university; final-year candidates can apply subject to maintaining the required graduation score. The 2026 process used CAT 2025, XAT 2026 and GMAT scores for the general admission route, with profile-based shortlisting alongside the test score.
| Parameter | TAPMI MBA Core requirement/process |
|---|---|
| Graduation | Minimum 60% |
| Entrance tests | CAT, XAT or GMAT for the 2026 core route |
| Shortlisting | Entrance score plus academics, work experience, achievements, leadership, diversity and other profile factors |
| Selection round | GD + WAT + PI, subject to annual process changes |
| Final weightage | Entrance 35%; academics 15%; GD/WAT/PI 45%; gender diversity & extracurriculars 5% |
Does TAPMI have a fixed CAT cutoff?
No single permanent cutoff should be treated as a guaranteed-call number. TAPMI states that the entrance cutoff can vary by year and programme depending on the applicant pool and programme suitability. This means students should assess their complete profile rather than targeting an assumed one-number cutoff.
A cutoff used for shortlisting is not the same as a score that guarantees final admission. TAPMI's final selection gives 45% weight to GD/WAT/PI and also evaluates academics and profile factors.
TAPMI MBA Fees 2026-28: Tuition vs Total Cost
The official 2026-28 admissions page currently publishes tuition of ₹9.75 lakh per year for the MBA. Therefore, the published two-year tuition component is ₹19.50 lakh. TAPMI currently says hostel and mess fees will be updated, so an all-inclusive two-year cost should not be presented as confirmed until those charges are officially released.
| Fee component | Published amount | Student takeaway |
|---|---|---|
| Year 1 tuition | ₹9.75 lakh | Academic tuition |
| Year 2 tuition | ₹9.75 lakh | Academic tuition |
| Two-year tuition | ₹19.50 lakh | Excludes hostel and mess |
| Hostel and mess | To be updated | Confirm before payment/budgeting |
Scholarships for TAPMI MBA
The Dr. Ramdas M. Pai Scholarship for Excellence in Academics & Practice can provide up to 100% tuition fee waiver for eligible candidates. TAPMI also lists a 20% Scholarship for Achievers for 5% of approved intake across MBA programmes. The actual award depends on the published scholarship policy and candidate eligibility.
TAPMI MBA Curriculum: What You Will Study
The flagship MBA follows a six-term structure. Year 1 establishes broad functional competence; later terms add advanced management learning, electives and experiential work. The 2026-28 handbook describes a summer internship and a broad course basket covering business fundamentals and applied management.
| Stage | Learning focus |
|---|---|
| Year 1 | Strategy, marketing, operations, HR, accounting, finance, economics, information systems, analytics and quantitative foundations. |
| Summer | Summer Internship Programme / experiential industry exposure. |
| Year 2 | Advanced functional learning, electives and cross-functional application. |
| Experiential courses | BrandScan, SEVA, SMIC, SAMNIDHY, Integrative Thinking Simulation and OMEGA. |
The Core MBA keeps multiple career paths open, but your eventual placement role will depend on your electives, internship, skill profile and recruiter demand. Do not assume the general-management label itself guarantees consulting or finance roles.
TAPMI Manipal Campus, Hostel & Student Experience
TAPMI's Manipal campus is residential. The institute describes five hostel blocks with attached bathrooms, 24-hour hot water, Wi-Fi, lifts and backup power. Men's and women's hostels have air-conditioned single and double rooms.
The Manipal location gives the programme a university-town environment. For students who value campus interaction and a contained residential cohort, this can be an advantage. Students who want a metro-city ecosystem should compare that factor before accepting an offer.
International exposure
TAPMI's internationalisation initiatives include student and faculty exchange partnerships. The institute lists universities such as the University of Akron, Montpellier Business School and Loughborough University, with participation subject to nomination and programme arrangements.
