Programme Overview

IIM Kozhikode's Post Graduate Programme in Finance (PGP-Finance) is a two-year, full-time master's-level programme designed for students who want to build careers in core finance and allied financial-services domains. IIMK specifically identifies areas such as corporate finance, investment banking and wealth management among the programme's intended career directions.

The programme is positioned as a specialised finance qualification rather than a general MBA with a finance concentration. Its design combines finance theory and application, with industry interaction and exposure intended to connect global finance practices with the Indian context.

What makes IIM Kozhikode PGP-Finance different?
The programme is built around an exclusive focus on finance. It is therefore most relevant for candidates who already know that they want finance, fintech, banking or financial-services roles and prefer a specialised two-year management qualification over a broad general-management programme.

IIM Kozhikode PGP-Finance Placements: Year-wise Analysis

Important: IIM Kozhikode conducts and reports final placements jointly for PGP, PGP-Finance and PGP-LSM. Therefore, the figures below are combined placement outcomes for the participating programmes, not PGP-Finance-only salary statistics. We have labelled them this way deliberately to avoid presenting institute-wide or combined data as programme-specific.

Placement yearMean CTCMedian CTCHighest CTCRecruiters / students
2025₹28.18 LPA₹27.50 LPA₹81.00 LPA169 recruiters; 561 students participated
2024₹28.05 LPA₹27.00 LPA₹72.02 LPA156 recruiters; 537 students participated
2023₹31.02 LPA₹27.00 LPA₹67.02 LPA123 recruiters; 556 students participated

Trend reading: the combined 2025 mean CTC was marginally higher than 2024, while the median increased to ₹27.50 LPA. The highest CTC rose from ₹72.02 LPA in 2024 to ₹81.00 LPA in 2025. The mean CTC was higher in 2023 at ₹31.02 LPA, so students should evaluate the full multi-year pattern rather than relying on one season's headline figure.

Finance relevance in the combined placement process

Finance accounted for 19.2% of the combined final-placement outcomes in 2025. In the 2024 report, finance accounted for 28% of offers, with the official report naming recruiters such as Axis Bank, BNP Paribas, Citi, D. E. Shaw, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase & Co. and Standard Chartered among the finance recruiters. The 2024 report also highlighted front-end investment banking and PE/VC roles from firms including Ambit Capital, Equirus, GEF Capital Partners, Lodha Capital Markets, Nomura, Pavestone, Piramal Alternatives and Xponentia Capital.

Summer internship context

IIMK's 2024 summer placement report for PGP, PGP-LSM and PGP-Finance recorded 147 recruiters, a highest stipend of ₹7 lakh and an average stipend of ₹2.68 lakh for the participating batch. As with final placements, these are combined figures and should not be interpreted as PGP-Finance-only statistics.

For a finance aspirant, the more useful takeaway is not just the overall mean CTC. Review the official placement report's finance-domain roles, recruiter mix and offer share alongside the combined salary statistics before judging the programme's fit.

Who Should Apply for IIM Kozhikode PGP-Finance?

Finance-focused graduates

A strong fit for graduates who want to enter finance rather than pursue a completely generalist management path.

Quantitative and analytical candidates

The programme is particularly relevant for candidates comfortable with analytical problem-solving and finance-oriented career decisions.

Early-career professionals

Work experience is not a minimum eligibility requirement, although relevant experience is considered during the selection process.

Career switchers into finance

Suitable for professionals who can clearly justify a move into banking, financial services, fintech or core finance roles.

Who Should Think Twice Before Choosing PGP-Finance?

  • Candidates who are unsure whether they want finance or general management and are choosing the programme only for the IIM Kozhikode brand.
  • Students looking for a broad MBA experience without a strong preference for finance-oriented careers.
  • Candidates who do not enjoy quantitative, analytical or finance-related problem-solving.
Realistic view: PGP-Finance offers a specialised career direction. The right comparison is not simply “IIM Kozhikode versus another college”; students should also compare a specialised finance programme with a general MBA based on the role and industry they want after graduation.
