XAT 2027 Overview

Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) is conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur on behalf of XAMI members for admission to MBA and PGDM programmes.

The official XAT website states that the examination is accepted by 250+ premier B-schools and is conducted in 100+ test cities across India.

Why is XAT important?

XAT is particularly known for its Decision Making section, which tests candidates on critical thinking, problem solving and prioritisation in practical situations.

XAT 2027 Eligibility

Candidates applying for XAT should fulfil the eligibility requirements specified by XLRI and the participating institutes.

  • Candidates should possess a recognised Bachelor's degree of at least three years in any discipline.
  • Final-year undergraduate students can also apply subject to the conditions specified by XLRI.
  • There is no restriction based on a specific undergraduate stream for the general XAT examination.
  • Candidates should separately check programme-specific eligibility requirements of the B-school they wish to apply to.

XAT 2027 Marking Scheme

  • Each correct answer carries 1 mark.
  • 0.25 marks are deducted for an incorrect answer.
  • Candidates can leave up to 8 questions unattempted without the additional unattempted-question penalty.
  • A penalty of 0.10 marks applies for every question left unanswered after the first 8 unanswered questions.
  • There is no negative marking for General Knowledge questions.

The General Knowledge section does not contribute to the overall percentile/cutoff score, but it can be considered in the selection process for XLRI programmes.
