IIM Udaipur MBA Eligibility 2026–28

Applicants must satisfy the academic and CAT requirements published in the 2026–28 admission policy. Meeting the minimum does not itself guarantee an interview or admission.

RequirementPublished requirement
GraduationBachelor's degree or equivalent in any discipline with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA.
Reserved categories45% minimum for SC, ST and PwD applicants under the published policy.
Entrance testCAT is the entrance route for the domestic Two-Year MBA admission process.
Final-year candidatesApplicants meeting the institute's stated final-year/degree completion conditions can apply, subject to the admission policy.

Does work experience matter?

Work experience is not a mandatory eligibility requirement for the Two-Year MBA. However, IIM Udaipur includes work experience as part of the 20% profile component in the final composite score for the 2026–28 process. This means a candidate can apply without work experience, while relevant experience can affect the profile score.

IIM Udaipur MBA Admission Process

The 2026–28 process is institute-specific. IIM Udaipur moved away from the Common Admission Process and uses its own sequence of CAT screening, online registration, Personal Interview and final merit-list preparation.

Step 1: Take CAT

Domestic applicants must appear for CAT. IIM Udaipur uses both overall and sectional CAT thresholds to determine eligibility for the PI process.

Step 2: Complete IIM Udaipur online registration

Candidates who meet the published minimum CAT and eligibility requirements receive an invitation to complete the mandatory online registration after CAT results. Registration is a pre-interview requirement and does not itself mean that an interview call has been received.

Step 3: Personal Interview shortlisting

The Admission Committee determines the number of candidates to call for PI in each category. The institute can increase or reduce the stated minimum CAT scores if required to reach the desired shortlist size.

Step 4: Personal Interview

Shortlisted candidates participate in the PI process. IIM Udaipur states that candidates who do not obtain the minimum PI score decided by the institute will not be considered for the final merit list.

Step 5: Final merit list

The final composite score uses the normalised CAT score, PI and profile. The CAT component is based on CAT score rather than CAT percentile at this stage.

IIM Udaipur CAT Cutoff 2026–28

The published CAT cutoff is a minimum threshold for participation in the PI process. It should not be treated as the percentile required to secure admission.

IIM Udaipur does not publish a guaranteed final-admission percentile. For preparation, candidates should target a score materially above the published minimum rather than planning around 94 alone. The exact competitive percentile varies with the applicant pool and shortlist decisions.

Published scheduled outlay₹21,51,258

What is included in the published fee?

The published schedule separately identifies tuition, hostel charges, mess charges, the refundable caution deposit and alumni fee. The institute's programme fee structure should therefore be used as the primary reference when planning the academic and residential cost.

What should students budget separately?

  • Laptop or computer and related software, unless already owned.
  • Travel to and from Udaipur.
  • Personal purchases, clothing, stationery and laundry.
  • Medical or personal expenses beyond the items covered by the institute's applicable arrangements.
  • Any future fee revision or tax that the institute may apply under the applicable rules.
Important fee calculation

The ₹20,000 caution deposit is refundable subject to the institute's rules. Therefore, the cash outlay and the non-refundable academic/residential cost are not identical. The ₹21,51,258 figure includes the refundable deposit and offer-acceptance payment because both appear in the published payment schedule.

IIM Udaipur MBA Summer Internship

The Two-Year MBA includes a mandatory summer internship at the end of the first year. The internship is designed to connect classroom learning with organisational work before students enter the second-year elective phase.

Why it matters

  • Provides exposure to a business function before final placements.
  • Creates an opportunity to apply first-year management concepts in a company setting.
  • Can help students test a preferred career function before selecting deeper second-year electives.

What to plan for

  • Prepare for summer internship recruitment during the first year.
  • Use the internship to build evidence of functional skills and business problem-solving.
  • Do not treat the internship as a substitute for final-placement preparation.
