IIM Bangalore MBA: Programme Overview
The Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) is IIM Bangalore's flagship two-year, full-time residential MBA. It lasts six trimesters over two years and includes a summer project between the first and second year.
IIMB describes the programme as a combination of strong fundamentals, contemporary management issues, analytical reasoning, experiential learning and leadership development. In the second year, students can choose from a range of electives and may opt for an exchange programme at select international business schools.

IIMB's current admissions site lists the 2027 PGP cycle, but the domestic PGP page does not publish a separate date table. The following schedule is therefore a clearly labelled estimate based on the immediately preceding official PGP cycle.

Who Is Eligible for IIM Bangalore MBA?
A candidate needs a bachelor's degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA. For SC, ST and PwD candidates, the minimum is 45%. IIMB also specifies eligibility for candidates who have completed CA, ICWA or CS after Class XII under the conditions in the admission document.
Applicants studying in the final year can apply, subject to the institute's requirements and submission of the required qualifying documents.
What Is the IIM Bangalore MBA Selection Process?
1. Apply through CAT
Domestic applicants apply through the Common Admission Test (CAT). The CAT score forms a major part of the initial assessment.
2. First shortlist
IIMB uses a multi-parameter pre-PI score. For the 2026-28 cycle, the published weights were CAT 55, Class 10 10, Class 12 10, bachelor's 10, work experience/professional course 10 and gender diversity 5.
3. WAT and Personal Interview
Shortlisted candidates attend a Written Ability Test and Personal Interview. The WAT and PI are conducted as the second stage of selection.
4. Final composite score
The post-PI score combines PI, WAT, CAT, school and graduation performance and work experience/professional course as prescribed by IIMB. Final offers are made strictly on the post-PI score within the applicable category process.

What Will You Study in IIM Bangalore MBA?
The first year builds a broad management foundation. IIMB's programme design combines conceptual learning with case-based and experiential learning and covers major management domains. The second year gives students more flexibility through electives.
Learning focus
- Conceptual and analytical reasoning
- Contemporary management issues
- Leadership and critical thinking
- Experiential and action-oriented learning
- Summer project and elective depth
Student decision point
The PGP is broad rather than a single-function MBA. Your second-year electives and projects become important when aligning the programme with consulting, finance, product, marketing, operations or entrepreneurship goals.
